On the sun-drenched weekend of 9th & 10th June 2012, Turtle co-hosted the inaugural History Festival of Ireland at his family home of Lisnavagh House, near Rathvilly, County Carlow.

The stellar line up featured Ruth Dudley Edwards, Myles Dungan, Kevin Myers, Diarmaid Ferriter, David Norris, Patrick Geoghegan, Manchán Magan, Catriona Crowe, Sr. Maura Duggan, Jeananne Crowley, Robert O’Byrne, Sean Duffy, Marian Lyons, Tom Sykes, Fiona Fitzsimon, Eoghan Corry, Michael Sheridan, Maurice Walsh, Micheál Ó Siochrú, Joshua Levine, Tommy Graham, Pat Wallace, Paddy Cullivan, Martin Nevin, Lar Joye, Edel Breathnach, Tom Bartlett, Hugh Fitzgerald Ryan, Ann Matthews, Alison Maxwell, Padraic Ingoldsby, Marc-Ivan O'Gorman, Val Byrne, Stuart Rosenblatt and Turtle Bunbury.

There were also presentations by the Federation of Local History Societies of Ireland, the Federation for Ulster Local Studies, the Oral History Network of Ireland, the Genealogical Society of Ireland and Gathering Ireland 2013.
