IRISH COUNTRY HOUSES

During the 1980s and early 1990s, Turtle Bunbury’s family home , Lisnavagh House in Co Carlow, was a much admired high-end country retreat affiliated with the Hidden Ireland group. The experience of meeting so many guests gave him a keen sense of what they want and how they should be treated. His subsequent travels have brought him all over the world and his reviews of recommended places to stay have featured in designer magazines such as Vogue Living and Objekt, in-flight airline magazines such as Cara, Serendib and Identity, and newspapers such as The Irish Times, The Australian, The New York Post and the South China Morning Post. A number of these places have featured in his books, ‘Living in Sri Lanka’ and ‘The Irish Pub’, written with the acclaimed photographer James Fennell. He also reviews hotels and guest-houses for the Alastair Sawday's 'Special Places to Stay' series. A sample of these reviews follows below.
